About Gogogu
About Gogogu
This microlot comes from several producers located around the village (or kebele) of Gogogu, in the Guji appellation. These 400–500 producers grow coffee in their gardens or on small farms, often on plots of less than half a hectare, with the majority not exceeding 2 hectares. In Ethiopia, such garden coffee represents a significant part of the national production. On these farms, coffee is grown in orchards (pruning is uncommon) alongside other local crops.
They cultivate endemic varieties, which they exchange with neighbouring farms or obtain from the drying station. These are mainly local landraces or varieties developed by the JARC.
